Holi 2008

This holi I didn't make the mistake of sleeping in my room. I went out with friends, to play holi in open. One good things here is that, whole campus plays holi at the same place, which makes it even more fun.

"Applying hard colours, tearing tee shirts, throwing people into water tank, pouring buckets of water, playing with mud, dancing, shouting and enjoying. This year, it was the real holi, holi filled with all the wonderful colours !"

I enjoyed a lot, doesn't matter anyone wishes you or not, what matters is that you wish them and play with them. Also some of my friends were hiding in their rooms, but they finally failed to escape!

We had a nice lunch (beer and chicken) and little whisky and thandai (prepared by ours favorite cook bhamri) in the evening :)

Back to hostel after playing holi

A Kid's Bday party :D

I don't know, may be after 10 years or so, today I attended a "Kids BDay Party" ! He is my Mam's son - Abhigya ( intelligent) .

The last 'Birthday Party' I remember, was of course mine, when I was 7 or 8 yrs old (I don't have such strong memory; I have a video of that ! ) The birthday caps, the balloons, the toffees inside them, and small kids all around with eyes focussed on the big cake.

It was like, hmmm I was also a kid once and used to celebrate my b'day like this and you can't stop smiling. I had almost forgotten that this kind of b'day parties also exist :)

It was fun and refreshing. Thanks Mam. Happy Birthday Abhigya. Have a nice time unwrapping your gifts ;)

PS : The kid is really cute

FIVE

Remember the campus life movie, I was going to make in 3rd semester? Well..., it was never completed ! ;)

And in this semester (5th) I am acting in a college movie titled 'FIVE', and I am one of the five.

Basically it's a normal campus life movie, of five friends (each of them depicting different elements of nature), how they met, and the regular college stuffs.

We have to complete this movie in a very short time - the last few days were hectic. We had taken so many shots in a single day. Anyways its fun, since I have nothing else to do, at least now I got something !

It will take few more weeks to complete the shooting. And then a week for editing and stuffs.
Hope it comes out well ! :)

cocktail parties

I don't drink often. And neither do I gulp a lot whenever I drink.
My favorite drink is not vodka, whiskey, gin or rum, but chilled beer :)

Since we (me and some of my friends who drink) were bored of drinking all these stuffs, we once tried cocktail. We found a software - College Bar -

You type in the things you have (rum, gin, whiskey, vodka, soda, coke, orange juice, etc) and it will give you the exact combination to make all the possible cocktails.

The cocktail thing was new to us. It was difficult to decide which one to make. And we had so many possible combinations! We decided to go by names. Sex on the beach ! Who won't go for that ! We don't have measuring cylinder, but who needed that, after all we are engineers and that too from "BITS Goa" !

That day, we tried three different cocktails, and believe me, they all tasted different and good.

Yesterday, we had the second cocktail party (after a gap of almost 2 months). This time we kept aside the college bar thing, just mixed abruptly little whiskey, little vodka, thums up, and mixed fruit juice. And wow! our new cocktail invention !

It was fun, it tasted very different and obviously it was sexy.

No, I am not a drunkard ! Don't say that, I had only two cocktail parties in my entire life.

Be sporty and have Fun

It was 6 O'clock in the evening , and we friends were not sure whether we were going for Uday's treat or not! It was raining heavily.

These days Goa is blessed/cursed by rain , continuous rain. It rains in the morning when I am sleeping, it rains when I have to go for classes and lunch, and it also rains when I have to roam about in the evenings with friends.

Though it sounds good, and ya it is, but not always! I can't dry up my clothes, blankets and bedsheets. Come on sun, show your face at least once !

Anyways, today in our yes or no situation, I decided to go , because no one promised that it won't rain tomorrow. And what's the big deal even if we get wet, it will be fun. Other moody friends agreed too :)

All of us sharing umbrellas and walking in the rain (sounds gay, but can't help, no girls in our group:( ) We divided ourself in groups to ask for lift upto Vasco. (bus stop is far or it seemed to , then)

I and Pranjal waved to an oil tanker. He was kind enough to stop, and save us from heavy rain (poor umbrella was crying). The rain which seemed evil minutes ago was now so good to look through the windscreen with viper dancing (doing same steps) on the english tune coming from the stereo :)

The seats were high (making us proud when we 'looked down' upon others), and it was a a different experience. The kind driver got two young companions (us) on the lonely highway and of course he was enjoying driving in the rain. And probably we would have reminded him of his youth.

Anyways he got company and we got lift. Listening to the song, watching the rain, sitting in an oil tanker and going for a treat. This was what I never expected this evening.

It was fun. And the fun was awesome, because it was all off a sudden.
Sometimes don't think, just do, whatever :)

kuch kuch hua tha ....

My friends often ask me, that I have written almost everything in my blogpost, then how come I never mentioned about the craziest thing I have ever done in the college!!!!
And I always answer it with a smile
:)

In everyone’s life, a moment comes, when he can’t think of anyone but his/her crush. This truth is quite known to most of us.
And then, you don’t think what is right or what is wrong, you just follow your heart. Most of the people keep it within them and wait for it to fade away and very few express it, and I am amongst the latter.

I take you back to my first semester. It all started the time when I first saw her. It was really a crush at first sight, if not a love at first sight! She made me go wild and crazy. And the more I noticed her, the more I was out of myself.

And without writing more about how I started feeling for her (which I don’t think you will be interested in),
I come directly to the part how I poured out my heart to her. Yes, it was uncontrollable, so I decided to give her a love letter.

I was awake the whole night, thinking about what to write. And with many deletions and insertions, I managed to complete the letter. I had a card too, with my picture on the cover which I decided to give her along with the letter. I wrote her name in blood and mine too. Now you may find it wierd as I also find it now. But at that time I was in some other world !
a world of love and passion, a world of eternal happiness which can't be explained in words and a world in which all these things seem normal ! (going too philosophical)

Well everything was set. I was high on emotions. I had the love letter with me.
But I always had the thinking that it’s not the right way. But as I said you don’t think what is right or what is wrong, so I decided to give it to her. I just wanted her to know that I had a crush on her and I really never expected anything in return.

The letter which contained all true feelings of mine without any mallice reached her. And it didn’t go that smoothly. What should be the matter between me and her became the matter of a bunch lot of people. I was really sad. I just wanted her to know that I like her, but…

Any ways as time passed, I moved on. But I really don’t feel that I will ever have any another crush again.
And this doesn’t mean that, if I have yet another crush I won’t tell her. No way!!!! I already said that I am amongst the latter :)

“Believe it or not but ghosts exists and I can prove”

Usually, after dinner, all of we friends gather in somebody’s room and discuss any topic (studies, trips, campus life, girls, teachers, etc.). But on one unusual day the topic was about ghosts and spirits. I don’t know how it came up, but God it was damn memorable night!

Adi (what we call Aditya in short) narrated us many ghost stories, in fact he called them real life incident and he gave that touch by relating every story to his ancestors. Nobody knows whether they were real or fake, but they were truly shocking and scary. One after another, stories after stories, Oh God he has a great stock.

Govil (Ankit Govil) too started narrating the stories one after another as if trying to prove that he is no less than Adi. All others had very less to speak and so enjoyed listening to both of them.

A ghostly atmosphere was created. None was in a funny mood. We all were serious. And in this serious mood Lokesh innocently expressed his desire to call a spirit. “…are you drunk,…have you gone mad,…go to sleep…shut up f*****…”, were the things he had to hear by us. But he was serious.

At last I supported him. “Hey guys, cool down, Lokesh is not talking bullshit. I am sure that ghosts do come but it’s difficult and it requires lots of concentration”. Everyone was quite for a minute. None of us knew what to say. We just kept staring each other. The silence was broken by Reddy, ‘its okay, we can try”.

The main problem was whose ghost you are going to call. He should have died recently and he should be familiar to all who are going to call him. Don’t laugh, because we decided to call Amrish Puri’s (a well know Bollywood star who had died recently) spirit.

That night when everyone slept, we made a plan chit in Bhamri’s room. As we started, some of my friends left as they were afraid, I wont name them. The person who concentrated by keeping the finger on the bowl were me, Lokesh and Bhamri. Jaspreet, Pranjal and Ashok and Lokeshwar were sitting on the bed,

We started, for about 20 minutes we sat with our eyes closed thinking about Amrish Puri. I tried my best to think only about him, but it was difficult. When you close your eyes many things come in your mind. So nothing happened and we opened our eyes.

“Why didn’t it come?” asked Ashok. “Probably due to less concentration”, and as I said this I looked towards Lokesh and Bhamri. They said some other things too came in their mind while thinking about Amrish Puri,

And to worsen Pranjal said that he was afraid so he was thinking about God and reciting prayers in his mind.
So how come any spirit come, even if they want to?

Now when we look back, it seems quite funny. But I tell you, that night was quite frightening, at least for some and I have strong evidence for that.

This incident at least made us know who all are afraid by ghosts among us.

the poster incident

This incident was a sudden idea. We planned it last night and executed it the very next day.

Bhamri, Uday and I were studying together in night. We had had our dinner at 8pm, so by midnight our stomach asked for some food. We were really hungry and there was nothing to eat, no Maggie, no soup, not even a biscuit packet!

We all got frustrated, and then Bhamri started telling about his friends life in IIT Delhi; they can come out of there hostel any time and there are 24 hrs cafeteria and ‘dhabaas’; and in our college we can’t come out from our hostel after 10:30p.m.(now its 11 pm) and even if it is allowed , whats’ the use? We don’t even have a 12 hrs cafeteria.

The campus was little boring that time which added up our frustration and we decided to protest.
We thought of making a poster, mentioning our problems and get it signed by as many students as possible.

So I made the poster. It looked attractive, and it had all our problems written with the important ones highlighted. In the beginning, Uday and Puneet were trying to understand us that nothing would change by this and the posters would be torn away by the teachers, but on seeing our determination they too joined us.

Next morning we went to many of our friends’ room and took their signatures, so that when we display the poster, it already had about 20 signatures.

The most common place for juniors as well as seniors is coffee shop. So at about 5a.m. we pasted the poster there, and below it 5-6 blank pages for getting it signed.

At about 8 in the morning, I, Bhamri and Uday were sitting at the coffee shop to see no body tore the poster.

The first one to see it was not a student, but Mr. Srinivas and Mrs. Meenal Kaushik, our thermodynamics and biology professors respectively. They noticed it and asked us who had put it. We raised our hand. They talked among themselves for a while and then discussed the points in the poster with us.

Srinivas Sir discouraged us, but our biology m’am agreed with some of our points. Soon the students started coming, all of them saw it, but none signed. May be they were getting late to there class. We too went to our class. When we returned we felt happy that there are some more signatures.

That day many teachers came there especially to see the poster. Srinivas Sir met me again in the cafeteria and he wished me best of luck. Some of the teachers were also supportive and were even willing to sign. The director of our college also came there to have a look at that poster.

The number of signatures increased as the day passed. But it was only juniors who had signed.

At the end of the day, we had nearly 400 signatures and 399 of them were of juniors. (It is a great number, in a total strength of nearly 1000 students.)

Next day we prepared a detailed report of our problem and thought of giving it to our Students Union President Master Hari Sudan, to pass it to the director. But the director himself called in for a meeting of all the juniors in lecture hall.

He is a very polite and good man; first of all he said that he was not involved in the campus for sometime as he was busy in arrangements for Prime Minister’s visit. So he was sorry for that.

Then he started telling about the poster.

He said that the poster was very nice and attractive, and he had no problem with the problems we mentioned. The only problem he had was with the way we put it. He said the concerned one should have come directly to him and said their problems.

He talked about it for some time and he said that he is not at all angry. And to promise that he will look into the matter seriously, he then and there it self changed the hostel timing form 10.30 pm to 11.00 pm.
We were happy;

Puneet read out the detailed draft in front of all and later handed it to the director.

There was also an open discussion about the problems between the students and the teachers.

Of course the seniors were not happy. But we talked to them, and made them understand that it was not to show that they are not doing anything but it was for our rights and after all they are the one whom we are going to follow.

So this was of course a daring step taken by Bhamri, Uday, Puneet and me along with other friends.

And I assure that all the demands and the problems were genuine and necessary to lead a normal college life.

trips

The first beach I visited with my friends in Goa was Baina Beach. It’s in Vasco-Da-Gama which is the nearest town from our campus. This beach is not for surfing or bathing, but only to enjoy the waves from far. That was the first and the last time we went there.

Next was Palelem. It is of course a very good beach, among the best beaches in Goa. We were around 15 friends, which made the trip even more interesting. The long journey of three and a half hours, had made us tired, but on seeing the beach, all our tiredness flew away. A sudden energy ran through out our body and all of us raced towards the beach with towels and swimming shorts.

We had a flying disc to play inside the water. After almost two hours inside the ocean, we saw two-three foreigners playing volley ball in the beach, they had a net and everything ready.

We challenged them for a match. None of us is a good volley ball player, yet for fun we did that. They called their friends and we were ready. The match was quite interesting as well as the conversation. Most of them were from Israel. We lost, 23-25, but gave them a good fight.

We had lunch in the nearby hotel, some seafoods and then back again in the water.

We were in no mood to go back, but we had no other choice, we had to reach our college by 8.30 pm.
All of us reached in time, but were left too tired and the very thought that we have to attend classes next morning were making us to die.

This journey was a great fun.

Next was Kalangoote Beach. This beach was familiar to me. I had already come to this beach with family when I was in tenth standard. People call it ‘queen of beaches’, and I think they are right. The waves are really high, and that time it was too much, sometimes water passed above our heads.

The trip to Kalangoote was more memorable than Palalem. The evening before going there, I, Lokesh, Soumyadeep and Ashok were in Panjim doing some shopping. We decided to hire two bikes, for 24 hrs. It was exciting, a Pulsar and a Libero. I drove the pulsar as I have it in my home. Soumyadeep was my pillion driver. Ashok was with Lokesh. So from Panjim we came back by bike.

At first we were in doubt whether the college main gate keeper would allow us to enter the campus with bike. But they allowed and we were inside. We roamed the entire campus with bike and then parked it in the garage near medical centre. Next early morning all of we friends left for Kalangoote.

Four persons were on bike and rest by bus.
On reaching Panjim , Pranjal took one more bike on rent and Prannoy joined him. So we were six on three bikes and the rest used bus. We reached Kalangoote and as I said earlier it was wonderful!

I remembered the place, the hotel in which I stayed the food shop and everything. But this time I was with my friends and on bike,
The joy of beach cannot be described much, the waves and the sun…it is left on the imagination of the readers.

While returning we stopped in between if we see anything good. Since we had bike we also visited Dauna -Paula. We returned the bike in Panjim and then returned back with other friends.

In between we were caught twice by traffic police. Once while we overtook on the bridge and second when he checked the license, (I had arranged for the license but it was only for car.) but the matter was settled on giving some money.

After the end of 1st semester, before going back to home, we visited Miamar beach, we didn’t have a bath there yet we enjoyed sight seeing...

And the last is Kolba beach, it was in the starting of 2nd semester. This beach is the longest beach in Goa, or may be in India. We had a rubber ball and we played some game inside the water.

As it was the beginning of the new semester, almost the entire campus was there. Classes were going to start, the next day.

Many other great beaches are still left to visit, and once they are completed then comes the churches and the temples.

yahoo group

The most f****** thing happened in Bits Goa was about an email which I sent to bitsgoa group at yahoo.
Bitsgoa is a group created by my friend Lokesh Harnal ( and he had opened it even before his admission to this college. Isn’t it great?)

It was for every bitsian (those who study in BITS) and at that time the group was not moderated. Now, of course, it is controlled by Lokesh, Aditya and me.

Coming back to the mail, it was as simple as any ordinary mail…but the idiots made it a big issue. I don’t know what the f****** problem they had.

Actually they had nothing to do in the campus so let’s…interfere in others work. Otherwise why the f*** they care about girls, whom they don’t know much (and in fact there was nothing to care about them as such). Any one can write any thing…. who the hell are they?? Damn gods!

Whom are you going to stop? What if I had mailed it by a fake ID.? So the controversy was nothing but bullshit.

Oops! I forgot to tell you about that mail. It was regarding seven girls of this campus. I described them, in fact wrote all well about them and praised them by adding some qualities which they never possessed and they can’t ever. And it was just for fun; not to hurt someone.

It spread as fast as a wild fire, not only in the group members but almost in the entire first year students.

There were talks about this email for almost a week. Many of them replied via email; sensible ones supporting me and the s****** supporting the girls. Latter’s mail included “...how can u treat girls as commodities?” and all such f****** things.

The girls didn’t speak much, regarding this, but they behaved as if they have been hurt a lot. But do you know one thing; everyone likes to be praised.

I am including the mail so that u can see how good it was. It was as follows:

All you have to do is to name the girl who fits most in the following description:

She is fair, simple, less talkative and innocent, carries herself well. Don’t know how to smile and laugh; usually gives answers by nodding. Boys don’t stand anywhere to her.

She is fair, has a great figure, like a super model, a cute face. She is sporty (plays basketball, sing, play Casio), and she becomes angry too fast.

She is a typical Punjabi girl, the plucky type, but has some attitude. She is fair and good looking, has a slim body. Talks with selected boys.

She is most famous girl (in a naughty manner), talks with all the boys (that’s cool you are in college now). A healthy and tall girl. She is well mannered, talks impressively and carries herself well. She has a friendly attitude and mingles easily.

She is very fair and good looking. Although she is little short but she looks beautiful (many boys are after her). She and the first girl look like sisters.

She is fair, good looking, well mannered and there is a rumor about her that she has a crush on a boy and she even proposed him. (That’s too cool! At least some of them have guts.)She looks simple and often wanders in a group of three.

She is fair (little less than the above girl), a little long face. She is healthy (not a perfect figure) but she has maximum number of followers. Spends most of the time in computer center or library.

So, do you think there was any, any f****** problem in this praise worthy mail? The only stupid thing which I did was that, I promised the first three persons, who answers correctly will be given a treat by me.

But see! God’s noble plan for his sweet creation, I was saved. Due to the controversy, I got an opportunity to cancel the treats. I pity on the friends who were first to answer.

I would like to include one of the mails which Soumyadeep sent, supporting me.

“Screw the fuck up man. I know the bloody mentality you have. And I don’t think that any of the gals her are so dumb that they don’t see the real reason behind you, sending crappy messages .There’s no need to pretend as a saint.
You talk in just the same way and about absolutely the same things that Ankit do. The only thing is that he has the balls to speak it in front of the all and you all snickering behind the gals back. And the much phrase you use “…girls as pieces of meat…” gives always your cheap character.”

Wasn’t it a heavy dose for them?

And I would like to clear one thing that ‘the girls’ are not as innocent as I thought.

The journey begins...

When it was decided that I would have to join BITS-Pilani, Goa, I started preparing for the journey.

As nobody was free at home, I had to leave alone. The tickets were with me. The problem started from day1. My journey to bits took place in three phases. First from Deoghar to Howrah, then to Chennai (where I had to stay with my brother who is in IIT madras), and then to Vasco-da-gama.

The first phase was horrible. My coach was S10. Somehow it was placed next to the engine. I didn’t notice and went towards the train’s tail. When I realized that my concerned bogie was the first one , it was too late. So I entered S9. Now, I had a big heavy suitcase, which could not be lifted (could only be rolled) and a bigger bedding. So you can imagine my condition. I made two trips from S9 to S10 first with suitcase and then next with bedding, that too through the small space in the coach with lots of passengers and obstacles in between. I was almost dead!

At the Howrah junction, I was wearing my brother’s T-shirt with IIT madras written on it. A student enquired, whether I was an iitian, and guess what, I said, “yes”.

He said “so you are a first year student?” and I replied , “no I am a third year student”.

He was shocked that such a childish boy was in the third year. It was great fun. He kept asking me, how was IIT?, how to study to get into IIT, about coaching institutes and all such related stuffs. I kept him engaged for hours. At the end, I told him the truth.

Finally I reached Chennai, my brother received me and I went to IIT hostel with him. The campus of IIT Madras was great. There were many new-comers, and the seniors were ready to take their introduction and rag them. My brother Amrit and some of his friends called some of the new comers in their room. I joined the seniors. It was great fun to see the newcomers being ragged and the fact that they were mistaking me as a senior was making me happier.

Next morning I departed for Goa. On reaching my college, I completed the admission formalities. I was assigned a room in first floor. And now I was ready for my college life.

Setting up in the college

After seeing the campus I became unhappy as the campus of IIT Madras was still fresh in my mind, I felt sad that I landed up here. I hadn’t mingled with students as they were with their parents.

For the first few days it was very boring. During those days while having lunch and dinner in the mess, other newcomers thought that I was a senior (as I was alone). So I had some fun with them.

The first three friends I made were Dhruv, Soumyadeep and Lokeshwar. In the beginning we four had planned to do many things together, (like hunting for girls). By then the ragging also started in the campus. Since the campus was only a year old, we had only one batch of seniors; we didn’t have that hell of the experience of ragging. The inexperienced seniors were afraid and to be honest there was nothing at all.

Soon the classes started, and I started bunking Thermodynamics lecture from day one. I still think that they are of no use unless there is a test in the lecture. The first two friends I noticed in my class were Uday and Kushal. Unluckily Kushal was assigned some other class but for few days he sat in our class. Next friend which I made was Ankit Bamri. And since then we three attend classes together, if we attend them!

I soon started knowing other students also. In the beginning it was really hard to remember the names of all the persons I met but soon I managed it.

The hunt for girls was still on. We tried talking to girls, first of them being Aakriti, Neha and Akshita. We talked to them for a while and even took their contact numbers. We also planned to go out somewhere but it was too early.

Next were Sucharita, Shuchita and Abhishikta and the last were Pavani and Chavvi. Further we never tried talking to any strange girl. Around this time I got some hints that I was itching some of the seniors as well as some newcomers. I didn’t know WHY? In the beginning many recognized me by my long and little brownish hair. Even senior girls used the phrase “the boy with long brown hairs” in their talks. Now I was more familiar with the college.

New friends Aditya, Abhinav, Govil, Ashok, Jaspreet, Pranjal, and Prannoy came in my life. Lokesh Harnal came little later. I had also made friends with some seniors. My first crush was A******, lucky girl! I forwarded messages to her two-three times and asked for further permission. She wrote back “don’t message me from now on”. I stopped after two-three more messages. Soon my crush was crushed and I was free again.

She-friends

Soumyadeep introduced me and Dhruv to Sucharita. She is a simple girl with good looks.

“Hi, I am Ankit and you are Sucharita, right?” I had said.

She had nodded.

All of us were confused regarding her name, was it Su-charita (good picture) or Su-charitra (good character). Dhruv asked her the meaning of her name. She reacted as if many have asked this question to her before and she was fed up giving answers to everyone. Though, she was pained, she did explain the meaning of both the names and said that she was Su-charita.

“I think you are both” then I paused for a while and said, “No, you are only one, which one?”

She was dumb for a while and said softly “that’s up to me to decide”.

Soumyadeep got little frustrated and was worried about his impression rather than ours. He was attracted towards her since his first talk. I think the chemistry clicked because both are Bengali. I talked to her on phone, for Soumyadeep. She was not at all angry and sounded friendly.

Nidhi, a sweet friend, was introduced to us, by Sucharita. Soon we five became good friends and shared many things. I even told them about my feelings for A*****. They suggested me to talk to her directly.

One night, Dhruv and me were talking a walk after dinner in front of GH1 (Girls hostel 1) and GH3 (Girls hostel 3). It was dark; the post lamp was switched off. Then Dhruv noticed A***** & Akshita walking. They were ahead of us. I was not sure whether she was A*****, but the height and the figure convinced me that she was A*******.

“Have a bet she is A*****, go and talk to her, I am with you”, said Dhruv.

“I agree, but I will talk to her some other day”.

Somehow I made myself strong enough to talk to her then. I went ahead; Dhruv was with me which gave me some strength. I said in a single tone, “excuse me, are you still angry with me?”

She turned back and to my great surprise she was a strange senior. I couldn’t think what to say. But she saved me by saying “Why should I be angry with you and by the way the T-shirt you painted is really cool”.

I thanked her and left. Dhruv and I laughed too much for it and when we shared it with friends they made fun of me and laughed too much. And I also wanted to add that Lokeshwar is somewhat different from others. He sometimes comes with us sometimes he can’t be seen for days.

And then came Sucharitha’s birthday. She invited me, Soumya and Dhruv. We had a nice lunch at Panjim and then we did some shopping .while in the return journey we played anthakshari (singing game) I enjoyed it a lot.

The unexpected !

Once while having dinner with my friends, the power supply went off. All the students started howling and banging the table. I stood up and went to the last row as I felt no one was sitting there and I could bang even louder. I banged the table three – four times as hard as I could. And then came back to join my friends, I went and banged the second time. But this time, to my surprise, someone caught my hand. I didn’t know him. He seemed to be a professor.

“Cant you see that I am having dinner here”.

I was ashamed, “sorry sir, it’s dark and I thought that no one is sitting here”.

He said nothing and I left. I was sure he had recognized me even in the little light. As I had expected he called me the next day. He was a physics professor, Mr. Bharve. He didn’t talk aboutt the last night and was not at all angry; instead he talked to me in a friendly manner. We talked about each other for an hour or so. He asked my hobbies, my routine, about my friends, the sports I love and about my talents. I felt happy and talked to him freely. I apologized to him again for the last night's incident. He said it was fine. He told me about his friends and his life.

He said, “One of my friends is very good in sketching. He can draw a portrait just in few seconds.” “Sir, I too can draw portraits, may be not as good as your friend”, I said. Knowing this he asked me to draw a portrait of Mr. A.K.Biswas, my physics professor. I think he shared everything with Mr. Biswas who was his good friend.

Mr. A.K. Biswas

Mr. A.K.Biswas – our respected and friendly Physics professor.

I bet no one can escape stomach ache due to laughter if one attends his class. His style is very different and strange.
Once he gave a question in mechanics which was somewhat complex. He noticed me talking and called me to solve it on the board. I don’t know how but I solved it correctly. Since then he was much impressed.
Once he said, “Ankit Vatsa is the captain of the class”. Obviously I felt proud.

Due to my nice impression he once called me to his chamber and enquired which physics books had I read before. At that moment nothing came to my mind. I said Resnick Haliday and Walker, though I had never seen it before. He said “I guess this physics book is too easy for you, isn’t it?” I nodded and he handed me two hi- fi mechanics books and told me to have a look at them.
Unwillingly I looked at them and while I was going through, he said “you can take it for some time.” They were in my room for days together and I never opened them. In mini-tests I mostly got 10/10 so the impression was maintained.

Once in physics class Mr. Biswas was in middle of some derivation. All of a sudden he stopped and asked me to draw a portrait of Hari Charan (a fellow student). I was surprised. He insisted, “Come on Ankit, please come and draw it”. I asked, “Sir, how do u know that I can sketch? And it is difficult to sketch on board, it won’t resemble”. “Doesn’t matter Ankit, come fast and draw it”.
I couldn’t help it. I went to the board and drew a funny human face which hardly resembled Hari Charan. Whole class started laughing along with me and Mr. Biswas.

Some other activities

Once I thought of climbing up the roof of our college main building.

My friends Dhruv and Soumyadeep joined me. It was easy, but we enjoyed because no one had done it before and it was restricted to climb up the roof.

The view was really great. One can look at the entire campus as a whole and since it was night time the burning lamp posts further enhanced the beauty. We remained there for hours, gossiping.

“Soumya, can you jump down for Sucharita?” I asked.
He laughed and replied, “I am not a fool”.

Dhruv was busy sending messages to Nidhi. We three had great fun.

College life became bit interesting with friends. The most F-word rule in BITS-Goa is – Everyone has to be in their respective hostels before 10:30 P.M.- what a crap?

All of us friends decided to break this rule at least once. Large windows, without grills, made things easier for us.

It was 2 O’clock in the night. One by one all of us jumped out of the window.

“Wait for me”, yelled Jaspreet.

He had got stuck between the window and was in shock. He didn't know if he should get in or get out. None of us could control our laughter. We pulled him out.

The gatekeeper was sleeping. Our stomach argued with us to go to the mess. And thre we went. All of us were searching for food, as if CBI were searching for dangerous criminals. We were successful. Some found a cucumber, some tomatoes and the 'clever one' noticed milk and coconut. We all had a great time eating them.

We marched towards the basketball court to enjoy the cool breeze coming directly from the river Zuari. As we were enjoying the pleasant moment, Lokesh noticed a shadow walking towards us. He alarmed us and we ran towards our hostel as fast as we could, without caring to look back who it was.

It was fun after all!
